This guide provides an introduction on how you can plan, organise and follow up the work with gender mainstreaming in your organisation. Gender mainstreaming is a political strategy to achieve an equal society. The strategy is about working for an equal distribution of power and resources and more equal opportunities for women, men, girls and boys. In Sweden, all public actors are tasked with contributing to this work.
By working with gender mainstreaming, an organisation can see how inequality is expressed and thus actively counteract and prevent equality problems both in the organisation and in society.
In order for the work to lead to results and effects, it needs to take place as part of the organisation's main activities, tasks and processes. Therefore, gender equality perspectives need to be included in all decisions, at all levels and in all stages of the operational process by the actors who participate in decision-making.
